Fall lawn seeding

by Terry Koch on 09/19/13

Now is the time to be seeding or reseeding those drought stricken lawns.  The proper rate of seed per 1,000 square feet on a new lawn is 8 to 10 pounds.  For over seeding the rate is 4 to 5 pounds.  When over seeding you need to first mow the existing grass short and remove all the thatch possible.  Keeping the new seed damp at all times is essential to obtain a good stand.  You want the ground wet but be careful not to over water and wash the seed away.
